Need I Say More?

That's a great poster!

The thing about the Republican Convention denigrating community organizers that pisses me off is how organizers are upholding conservative principles. Obama worked in a community that had been hurt by the closing of the local steel mill. Instead of creating a big government program, he worked to help the community create a job center and then tried to help them start their own small businesses.

Republicans argue that the things Obama did as a community organizer are the very best way to respond to social problems (local, neighbors helping neighbors, non-bureaucratic, etc.) One of the reasons Obama left community organizing to go to law school and later get involved in politics is that he recognized that the Republicans' answer to social problems is inadequate. If the problems are created on a scale much larger than a local neighborhood, the answers to those problems need to be larger as well.
